ICSA 2026 Travel Award Announcement

ICSA Applied Statistics Symposium

June 14–17, 2026 | George Mason University, Arlington, VA

The International Chinese Statistical Association (ICSA) is pleased to offer travel support for junior participants attending the 2026 ICSA Applied Statistics Symposium, supported in part by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The goal of this support is to facilitate participation by students, postdoctoral scholars, and early-career researchers, particularly those presenting talks or posters at the symposium.

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: May 15, 2026, 11:59 PM ET
  • Notification of Awards: May 25, 2026

Eligibility

  • Be based at a U.S. institution (students, postdocs, or early-career researchers).
  • Be a graduate student, postdoctoral scholar, or early-career researcher who received their PhD in 2021 or later.
  • Present a talk or a poster at the symposium (priority consideration).
  • Attend the symposium in person.

Priority will be given to:

  1. Graduate students presenting papers or posters at the symposium
  2. Postdoctoral scholars and early-career researchers presenting their work
  3. Students without other sources of travel support
  4. First-time attendees of the ICSA Symposium

Travel Support Details

Travel support is intended primarily for students, postdoctoral scholars, and early-career researchers presenting at the symposium.

Typical support levels are:

  • Graduate Students: up to $750 (travel, lodging, and/or conference registration)
  • Postdoctoral Scholars and Early-Career Researchers: up to $175 (partial travel or registration support)
  • Support will be provided as reimbursement after the conference and may include: Airfare or ground transportation, Lodging, and Conference registration.
  • All air travel must comply with the Fly America Act, meaning flights must be booked with U.S. carriers or through U.S. airline code-share agreements.
  • Reimbursement amounts may vary depending on the applicant’s location and the availability of funding.

Recommendation Letter

A separate recommendation letter from your advisor will be required. Optional for master’s students, but required for Ph.D. students. The recommendation letter is required for students only. It is your responsibility to follow up and ensure it is submitted. Please ask your advisor to confirm:

  • Your full-time enrollment and academic standing.
  • The academic and professional benefits of your attendance.
  • Your strengths and potential contributions to the symposium.
  • Willingness to support any additional expenses not covered by the travel award.
  • Please send the recommendation letter to symposium2026@icsa.org before May 15, 2026.
